There is an old joke I recall! One woman bought a computer and she calls up customer care and says that she is following instructions but can’t get her computer to start! On further querying from the customer support guy the woman says that she has inserted a clean and uninfected disk to start up the pc. She says that she also took the trouble of washing the disk using a disinfectant soap before inserting it in to the computer!

Needless to say this could be going too far, and it is a joke that is eons old in computer years! In all fairness and in keeping up with the times, let’s be gender neutral and say that this could have happened to a man as well!

The truth is that if you want to keep your personal computer in running shape it isn’t a funny business! It is dead serious just because a PC is definitely an investment not just in terms of hardware but you also stand to lose crucial computer data and files in case you don’t look after your personal computer.

Let’s take the issue head-on and see what we should do to maintain a PC

1. Consider investing in a legal copy of an anti-virus anti-malware solution in case your PC doesn’t come pre-packed with one. This can keep the PC running trouble free and make it less susceptible to crashing. It will likewise make your surfing experience much safer.

2. Defrag Often! Defragmenting your computer’s hard disk drive is something the equivalent of taking up files, papers, and stuff on your desk and keeping it neatly organized so that you can access it easily and quickly! Defragmenting your hard disk drive might help in increasing the computer’s performance. If you think your personal machine is sluggish during a period of time, then often defragging helps you to increase speed.

3. Take care of your registry! The registry is a sort of meta-data about the programs and software installed on your computer. This may and does become corrupted on occasion. There are a number of 3rd party tools that can help you to keep your window’s registry in perfect working condition. This is simply not a job for the faint hearted users so become familiar with the registry and the type of tools that will help maintain your registry free from bloating. If uncertain, ask a technician or an educated user.

4. Keep it clean! Keep your PC in a clean area that is not vulnerable to dust! This is particularly important in the case of a laptop. Not merely will your laptop feel better when you clean it regularly, you’ll feel better when you use it!

5. Backup! Backup! Backup! In spite of precisely what we do, accidents do happen and hard disks do crash! To be safe and sound keep a backup of all your files and save them to a USB drive or a DVD/CD once in a while!

Following these basic rules will help make your computing experience safe and fun! Happy computing!

Other Stuff: To help you secure a few terrific bargains, surf to http://digitalwaterproofcameras.com and find resources about (a) water proof cameras.

What do you expect the top of the range training organisations accredited by Microsoft to offer a student in the United Kingdom at present? Clearly, the finest training tracks certified by Microsoft, presenting a selection of courses to take you towards various areas of industry.

Additionally you might like to have a discussion on the sort of careers you might go for after you’ve completed your training, and the type of individual that work may be appropriate for. Lots of people like to get advice on what would be best for them.

Once you’ve decided on the career track for you, an applicable training course needs to be chosen that’s goes with your ability level and skill set. This can be personally tailored for you.

Many individuals don’t really get what information technology is about. It is ground-breaking, exciting, and means you’re a part of the huge progress of technology affecting everyones lives in the 21st century.

Computing technology and communication via the internet is going to dramatically shape our lifestyles over future years; profoundly so.

The average IT man or woman in Great Britain has been shown to get noticeably more than fellow workers in other market sectors. Mean average incomes are hard to beat nationally.

Because the IT market sector is still increasing at an unprecedented rate, the chances are that the requirement for well trained and qualified IT technicians will remain buoyant for a good while yet.

Frequently, your everyday trainee really has no clue how they should get into the IT industry, let alone what market is worth considering for retraining.

How can we possibly grasp the day-to-day realities of any IT job when we’ve never done it? Most likely we have never met anyone who does that actual job anyway.

Reflection on these factors is required when you need to get to a solution that suits you:

* What nature of individual you reckon you are – which things you enjoy doing, and on the other side of the coin – what don’t you like doing.

* For what reasons you’re moving into the IT industry – is it to conquer a life-long goal such as being your own boss for example.

* What salary and timescale needs that are important to you?

* With many, many areas to train for in Information Technology – you’ll need to pick up some background information on what differentiates them.

* You have to understand the differences across the myriad of training options.

For the majority of us, dissecting these areas will require meeting with an advisor that knows what they’re talking about. And not just the accreditations – but also the commercial needs and expectations of industry too.

A skilled and specialised advisor (as opposed to a salesman) will ask questions and seek to comprehend your current level of ability and experience. There is no other way of calculating the starting point for your education.

Quite often, the level to start at for a student experienced in some areas can be massively different to the student with no experience.

Opening with a foundation course first may be the ideal way to get up and running on your IT studies, depending on your current skill level.

Watch out that all accreditations that you’re considering will be recognised by employers and are current. Training companies own certificates are often meaningless.

Only fully recognised qualifications from the likes of Microsoft, CompTIA, Adobe and Cisco will mean anything to employers.

(C) 2010 – S. Edwards. Look at CCNA Certification or www.ITCourse4PC.co.uk.

The CCNA certification is where it all starts for Cisco training. This teaches you how to operate on maintaining and installing network switches and routers. The internet is made up of many routers, and large companies that have various regional departments rely on them to keep their networks in touch.

As routers are connected to networks, it’s vital to have prior knowledge of how networks function, or you’ll struggle with the training and be unable to follow the work. Find training that features the basics on networks (such as CompTIA) and then move onto CCNA.

Get on a tailored route that takes you on a progressive path to make sure that you’ve mastered the necessary skills and knowledge before starting your training in Cisco skills.

A lot of trainers only give basic 9am till 6pm support (maybe a little earlier or later on certain days); most won’t answer after 8-9pm at the latest and frequently never at the weekends.

Never accept study programmes that only provide support to you via a call-centre messaging service when it’s outside of usual working hours. Trainers will try to talk you round from this line of reasoning. The simple fact of the matter is – you want support at the appropriate time – not when it suits them.

The best training colleges provide an internet-based 24 hours-a-day system combining multiple support operations over many time-zones. You will be provided with a simple environment that accesses the most appropriate office no matter what time of day it is: Support when you need it.

You can’t afford to accept a lower level of service. Direct-access round-the-clock support is the only kind to make the grade when it comes to technical courses. Maybe late-evening study is not your thing; often though, we’re working when traditional support if offered.

Most trainers typically provide a shelf full of reference manuals. Learning like this is dull and repetitive and not really conducive to achieving retention.

If we can involve all our senses in the learning process, then the results are usually dramatically better.

Locate a program where you’re provided with an array of DVD-ROM’s – you’ll begin by watching videos of instructors demonstrating the skills, and then have the opportunity to fine-tune your skills in fully interactive practice sessions.

It’s wise to view a small selection of training examples before you purchase a course. What you want are instructor demonstrations, video tutorials and interactive audio-visual sections with practice modules.

You’ll find that many companies will only provide purely on-line training; sometimes you can get away with this – but, consider how you’ll deal with it when you don’t have access to the internet or you only get very a very slow connection sometimes. It is usually safer to have DVD or CD discs which don’t suffer from these broadband issues.

It only makes sense to consider study programs which grow into industry accepted qualifications. There’s an endless list of small companies proposing unknown ‘in-house’ certificates which aren’t worth the paper they’re printed on in the real world.

All the major IT organisations like Microsoft, Cisco, Adobe or CompTIA have globally approved proficiency programmes. These heavyweights can make sure you stand out at interview.

Commercially accredited qualifications are now, most definitely, taking over from the traditional academic paths into IT – why then is this the case?

Industry is of the opinion that to cover the necessary commercial skill-sets, certified accreditation supplied for example by Microsoft, CISCO, Adobe and CompTIA most often has much more specialised relevance – at a far reduced cost both money and time wise.

Clearly, a necessary amount of background knowledge needs to be covered, but focused specifics in the areas needed gives a commercially trained person a huge edge.

Put yourself in the employer’s position – and you wanted someone who could provide a specific set of skills. Which is the most straightforward: Pore through loads of academic qualifications from various applicants, asking for course details and which vocational skills they’ve mastered, or choose particular accreditations that exactly fulfil your criteria, and draw up from that who you want to speak to. Your interviews are then about personal suitability – rather than on the depth of their technical knowledge.
